New Castle's prime location on the western edge of the Rocky Mountains, temperate climate, friendly neighborhoods, great schools and easy access to I-70 make New Castle a highly attractive community in which to live, work and play.

The area has 12 municipal parks, several in-town trails and access to both the Colorado River and the Flattops. New Castle's Recreation Department offers an amazing number of sports programs for kids of all ages.

New Castle is part of the Garfield Re-2 School District, which also serves the neighboring communities of Silt and Rifle. There are two Elementary Schools and a Middle School in town, and Coal Ridge High School is just outside town on Route 6. Garfield Re-2 is a district of high expectations, high standards, and in persistent pursuit of quality from our staff and our students.
